Shooting Stories

Stefan Rumpler

"If nothing stops us, we can shoot damn fast", said Stefan Rumpler to his team-mate shortly before the exciting shoot-off of the IPSC World Shoot in Pattaya. "The subsequent victory by team-mate Thomas Winter and my 2nd place in the shoot-off of the best eight put words into action and were the perfect end to this World Cup."

A master in his field

Person and career:
Stefan Rumpler, born in Austria in 1992, is not only an experienced GECO team shooter, but also an enthusiastic weapons technology engineer. His career, from training to his current role as product manager for airgun pellets and rimfire ammunition, reflects his deep roots in the world of firearms.

Training and preparation:
With an impressive total shot count of around 20,000 rounds per year and a training programme that includes dry-fire training and range visits several times a week, the young family man demonstrates his dedication and discipline. His broad training programme covers gun handling, drawing procedures and reloading techniques.

A passion for shooting:
His passion for shooting began early when he became a member of the privileged Imperial and Royal Shooting Club in Mittersill/Austria. Coming from a family of firearms experts, with a father who was a master gunsmith and a grandfather who was a chief forester, Stefan developed a deep connection to the world of firearms.

Successes and achievements:
With German championship titles in 3Gun and IPSC Shotgun Open Division as well as fourth place at the World Championships in dynamic shotgun shooting, Stefan has quickly established himself as one of the best. His path also led him to the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and to winning the team world championship title in the three-position 300 m large-calibre rifle event in South Korea in 2018.

The World Championships in Pattaya:
The highlight of Stefan's impressive career was his 4th place at the 4th IPSC World Shoot in Pattaya, Thailand, in December 2023. In a high-calibre competition with 600 shooters from 40 nations, he secured 4th place in the Open Overall class. His skills were particularly evident in the shoot-off, where he was only narrowly defeated by world champion Scott Greene by 1:2.

Conclusion: Stefan Rumpler not only embodies an accomplished shooter, but also an engineer and product manager who lives his passion and expertise every day in the world of shooting sports. With an impressive portfolio of successes, a clear equipment preference and sound recommendations, he has earned his place at the top of the IPSC world. A real asset for GECO!
