Personal Background

Camilla Almici’s journey into shooting didn’t begin with competition in mind. It began with family.

Growing up in the province of Brescia in Northern Italy, she was introduced to the shooting world by her father, a lifelong firearms enthusiast. What started as simple moments spent together at the range quickly turned into something more. Curiosity became passion, and passion evolved into a clear sporting ambition.

When Camilla entered IPSC in 2021, she did so later than many of her competitors. But what she may have lacked in experience, she made up for with focus, discipline and a highly structured approach to improvement. Instead of rushing results, she built her foundation step by step. She refined her technique, developed consistency and learned how to perform under pressure.

That approach paid off faster than expected. Within just a few seasons, Camilla progressed from a newcomer to an international top athlete, proving that in IPSC, dedication and mindset can accelerate development in extraordinary ways.

Her Story

Camilla Almici is not defined by how she started but by how fast she learned. Entering IPSC in 2021, she faced a reality that every competitive shooter knows: there are no shortcuts in practical shooting. Every movement, every transition, every decision on a stage must be built through repetition, discipline and focus. From the very beginning, Camilla embraced exactly that.

“Every result is earned. In IPSC, there are no shortcuts. There is only preparation, focus and execution.”

Her approach to the sport is structured and uncompromising. Training is not just about shooting. It is about building a system that holds under pressure. That system quickly paid off. Within a short time, Camilla achieved what many athletes work towards for years:
two World Championship titles and a European Championship title in the Production Lady category. But what makes her stand out is not only the results. It is how she got there.

Through consistency, discipline and the constant drive to improve, stage after stage, match after match.

“Practical shooting is an honest sport. Your results depend entirely on your preparation and your mindset.”

One of the defining moments of her career came with her first World Championship victory.

Standing on top of the podium, she experienced what every athlete works for the confirmation that hard work, structure and belief in the process truly pay off.

“Winning my first World Championship was a clear reminder that consistent effort brings real results.”

And yet, even at the top, her mindset remains unchanged:

There is always another step.
Another detail to refine.
Another level to reach.

Reliable Performance

For Camilla Almici, performance does not start on the stage. It starts with trust! Trust in preparation. Trust in process. And above all, trust in equipment. Because in a sport where fractions of a second and minimal deviations decide results, there is no room for uncertainty. Every component has to work. Every shot has to behave exactly the same.

Her philosophy is clear: If you trust your equipment, you can fully focus on your execution.

That is why Camilla relies on GECO ammunition and components. Not just for competition, but for every single training session. Consistent ignition, stable performance and reliable feeding are not advantages in IPSC; They are requirements.

“Knowing that every shot will perform exactly as expected allows me to focus completely on my performance.”

This level of consistency gives her the confidence to push her limits. Knowing that her equipment will always keep up.

Training & Preparation

Camilla’s success is not based on isolated moments of performance. It is built on structure.

Her preparation follows a clear system that combines technical precision, physical strength and mental clarity.

Technical Training

At the core of her routine lies dry fire training.

Not as a supplement, but as a foundation.

She focuses on building efficient, repeatable and automatic movements: weapon handling, target transitions, visual discipline and body positioning. Every movement is refined until it becomes instinctive.

Because under pressure, there is no time to think. Only to execute.

“Consistency is key. Even short, focused sessions make a big difference over time.”

Physical Training

IPSC is not only about shooting. It is about movement, control and endurance.

Camilla’s physical training is designed to support exactly that.

She focuses on strength, stability and coordination, combined with core work and agility training. The goal is not just fitness, but efficiency: smooth movement, controlled transitions and the ability to maintain performance throughout an entire match.

Because consistency is not only technical. It is physical.

Mental Training

At the highest level, performance is decided in the mind.

For Camilla, mental training is not optional. It is essential.

Working closely with a mental coach, she uses visualisation techniques, breathing exercises and focus routines to prepare for competition. Every stage is mentally rehearsed and every sequence internalised.

The result is clarity.
And with clarity comes control.

“Mental training allows me to stay clear, focused and consistent under pressure.”

Equipment Philosophy

In a sport where many athletes constantly adjust and optimise, Camilla follows a different approach: Never change a running system!

Her Beretta 92X Performance remains largely unchanged, not out of convenience, but out of conviction. Every adjustment is carefully tested, introduced gradually and only kept if it truly improves performance. Because unnecessary changes create uncertainty. And uncertainty costs performance.

“In IPSC, small changes can make a big difference, but only if you give them time to work.”

When it comes to her favourite piece of equipment, her answer is immediate:

Her ammunition.

Because for Camilla, everything starts there.

Consistency. Reliability. Confidence. Every shot.

Season Planning

Camilla’s competitive approach is as structured as her training.

She deliberately focuses on quality over quantity, selecting competitions that contribute to her development and performance at the highest level.

Her main goal for the season is clear:

The European Championship

Everything is aligned towards that moment.

Preparation includes:

  • structured training phases

  • selected test matches

  • dedicated mental preparation

  • planned recovery periods

Every session, every decision and every detail, them serves one purpose:

arriving at the championship fully prepared, confident and ready to perform.

Competition Mindset

On the range, Camilla’s approach is defined by clarity and discipline.

Before every stage, she builds a precise plan, analysing positioning, movement and visual references. She visualises the execution multiple times, creating a clear mental blueprint before stepping to the line.

Her focus remains unchanged: clean execution first. Speed follows naturally.

Because in IPSC, speed without control is a risk. And control is what creates winning performances.

Motivation

What drives Camilla Almici is not just competition, but progression. The constant pursuit of improvement. The challenge of refining every detail. The satisfaction of turning effort into performance.

“I love pushing my limits and improving step by step.
The combination of speed, precision and mental focus makes IPSC unique.”

For her, IPSC is more than a sport. It is a process. And she is only just getting started.

10 Questions – 10 Answers

Quick-Fire Interview with Camilla Almici

1. How did you get into shooting?
My journey into shooting started thanks to my father, who has always been passionate about firearms. What began as a way to spend time together at the range quickly turned into something much bigger. Over time, that initial curiosity grew into a real passion and eventually into a full sporting career.

2. When did you start IPSC?
I started competing in IPSC in 2021. Compared to many others, that’s relatively late, but from the beginning I approached it with a very clear mindset: to learn quickly, stay consistent and build a solid foundation step by step.

3. What are your biggest achievements so far?
So far, my biggest achievements are winning two World Championship titles and one European Championship title, all in the Production Lady category. These results mean a lot to me, but I see them as a starting point rather than a finish line.

4. What defines your shooting style?
I would describe my shooting style as disciplined, consistent and focused on continuous improvement. I always try to stay in control, trust my process and build performance through structure rather than taking unnecessary risks.

5. What is most important in training for you?
For me, the most important thing is building efficient and repeatable movements. Everything I do in training is aimed at creating consistency, so that under pressure I can rely on what I’ve practised.

6. Dry fire or live fire?
Both are essential, but dry fire plays a key role in my training. It allows me to work on technique, refine movements and improve efficiency without distractions. Live fire then confirms and reinforces what I’ve built in dry fire.

7. What role does mental training play for you?
Mental training is extremely important. Over the past year, I’ve been working with a mental coach, and it has made a big difference in my performance. Techniques like visualisation and breathing help me stay focused, manage pressure and perform consistently during competitions.

8. What is your favourite piece of equipment?
My ammunition. Using GECO components gives me the consistency and reliability I need. In IPSC, even small variations can have an impact, so having ammunition I fully trust allows me to stay focused on execution.

9. What motivates you?
What motivates me the most is the constant challenge to improve. I enjoy pushing my limits and working step by step towards better performance. IPSC is a sport where you can always refine something, and that’s what keeps it exciting.

10. What advice would you give to beginners?
Take it one step at a time and focus on the fundamentals, especially safety, weapon handling and stage planning. Don’t rush the process. Mistakes are part of learning, so use them to improve. Stay patient, stay consistent and enjoy the journey.
