IPSC Season Recap 2025: Passion, Precision & Team Spirit with GECO

The 2025 IPSC season was another outstanding year for the GECO IPSC Dream Team – packed with national titles, international triumphs, and powerful stories of ambition and determination. From Philippsburg to the IPSC World Shoot in South Africa, our athletes once again embodied what defines the GECO spirit: discipline, consistency, precision, and pure joy in competitive shooting.

While this IPSC recap highlights some of the major international milestones, it represents only a selection of the many IPSC matches our team competed in. Throughout the year, GECO athletes delivered remarkable performances at local, national, and international IPSC competitions across Europe – proudly representing GECO ammunition, pushing their limits on demanding stages, and showcasing their skills and sportsmanship at every level of the sport.

What makes this IPSC season even more impressive is the sheer volume of competitions all of our shooters successfully balanced alongside work, family, and personal commitments.

A standout example is György Batki, who competed in 15 major IPSC matches across Europe — from the early No Miss Challenge in April to the Slovak Open in October — achieving multiple first-place finishes in Classic Division and ultimately crowning his season with a World Championship title in Senior Classic at the 2025 IPSC Handgun World Shoot. His journey — 15 matches, countless hours of training, and unwavering consistency — reflects the dedication, endurance, and competitive mindset that runs through the entire GECO IPSC Team. It’s proof that international success in IPSC shooting isn’t just built on talent, but on resilience, strategic preparation, and a deep passion for the sport.

György Batki:

IPSC isn’t just about shooting well — it’s about showing up again and again. Balancing training, work, and travel is tough, but that rhythm keeps me sharp. By the time the World Shoot came around, I had already built a season of focus and precision.”

Cyrielle Vivo:

Starting the season with a victory in the Lady Division felt amazing! It gave me a huge boost of motivation and confirmed that all the work during the off-season was paying off. It also set a positive tone for the rest of the year, reminding me to stay focused, enjoy the process, and keep pushing my limits at every match.”

“The defining moment of the event came when a part of my gun broke during the match. In that instant, I had to adapt quickly, stay calm, and push myself to keep performing at my best. I knew every point would matter, so I focused on shooting flawlessly and avoiding further mistakes. That challenge really tested my mindset and resilience.”

Emile Obriot:

My goal at every match is to win! The French Nationals were scheduled very early in the season, and I wasn’t fully prepared yet — so making it onto the podium was a great satisfaction and the perfect way to kick off the year.”

Patrick Baculard:

My personal highlight this year was taking silver at the French Nationals in Optics Senior. It’s a brand-new IPSC category, so winning a medal there meant a lot. The GECO team really is my sporting family – we support each other through everything. GECO’s trust and high-end products make a real difference. IPSC is a constant challenge – you have to stay strong both mentally and physically. For 2026, my goal is to qualify for the French team for the European Championships and go for gold in Optics Division.”

Patrick’s Advice to Young Shooters:

“Observe experienced shooters, listen carefully, and stay humble — in victory and in defeat.”

Dylan Keppel:

“During the trip to Italy, I ran into some equipment problems. Thanks to the amazing support from the GECO and Beretta teams, I was still able to start. It was one of those matches where the real battle was mental. Normally I bring my own trusted GECO ammo, but this time I couldn’t. Luckily, because GECO is available almost everywhere in the world, I managed to get some on site from another shooter. That global availability and reliability of GECO ammunition is fantastic — it gives you confidence wherever you are.”

Eduardo de Cobos:

“Winning the Beretta Cup in Production came down to mastering the Italian stage style. I focused hard on transitions, shooting on the move, and solid hits at medium and long distances. Taking Overall and Senior in such a demanding competition was a huge success and a reminder that preparation and stage-reading make all the difference.

Special Note:
Patrick Kummer played a dual role at this year’s CZC Open — both as an event organizer and an active competitor. His contribution behind the scenes and on the firing line helped shape the event into one of the most technically demanding matches of the season

Dylan Keppel:

The CZC Open is an incredibly technical match. Every stage is full of traps that can easily cost you points if you lose focus. Thanks to my 2025 training program, no challenge was too difficult this time. What makes CZC unique is that technical edge — like Formula 1 tracks, each match has its own rhythm and style, pushing you to adapt and grow as a shooter.”

Emile Obriot:

The CZC Open in Philippsburg is always tough, technically demanding from the very first stage. I took the silver medal in Production Optics, which confirmed that my early season form was solid and my preparation on track.”

Patrick Kummer:

Wearing several hats at the CZC Open was a unique challenge — being a shooter, event organizer, and sponsor all at once. As the European distributor of CZ Custom USA, I take great pride in helping shape this match. In the months leading up to the event, the role of match director brings many responsibilities — from coordinating with local authorities to fine-tuning logistics. Luckily, I could count on an incredible team: my co-match director Jürgen Öfner, range masters Jörg Käsberger and Alexander Henghuber, and our highly motivated build crew. Thanks to clear task distribution and strong communication, everything ran smoothly, which allowed me to fully focus on my own performance once the match started. It’s exactly this combination of teamwork and personal responsibility that made the CZC Open a success.”

For several years now, rifle shooting has been my second passion. It’s highly complex — from ammo choice to optics and stage strategy — and that complexity makes it so appealing. A miss on stage four cost me 30 points — exactly what I needed for the overall win — but I’m still proud to have taken the Senior title.”

The shoot-off final was incredible — even though I lost 1:2 to an American, the atmosphere and sportsmanship were unforgettable. Despite a shotgun breakdown early in the season, I recovered and trained hard with 500–600 rounds a week to finish strong. Standing on the podium at the European Championship was a special moment and the perfect reward for months of preparation.”

Thomas Edvardsson:

During the European Championships in Hungary the temperature reached over 40 °C, which is extreme for us Nordics. I coped well except for one day when I got heatstroke, which cost me a lot of points. Food and fluids are the key to coping with high temperatures and not being in the sun for too long.”

I’m Swedish—we’re used to shooting in the rain, haha! But seriously, it’s about adapting to the situation and focusing on the task, not the weather. The right gear matters: staying warm and keeping your hands dry is crucial for fast, confident shooting. It wasn’t the most pleasant forecast, but staying disciplined on stage plans turned the conditions into an advantage.”

Competing alongside the GECO team made it even more meaningful; we supported and motivated each other throughout the event, creating a strong team spirit.

Emile Obriot:

As I stood on the podium, I was filled with an incredible sense of pride and deep personal satisfaction. Hearing La Marseillaise and sharing that moment with Eric Grauffel was unforgettable.”

Cecilia Lindberg:

What I’ll remember for a long time is how stable and composed I felt throughout the entire World Shoot. I was a bit nervous on the first stage of day one and on the first two stages of day three — otherwise, I stayed completely focused on my task and didn’t let anything distract me. That inner calm is something I’m very proud of.”

Cyrielle Vivo:

The World Shoot was a powerful reminder of why I love this sport. Competing on the biggest stage, surrounded by the best shooters in the world, pushes you to go further than you thought you could. It’s inspiring and humbling at the same time.”

Dylan Keppel:

Competing at the World Shoot was something truly special. I came in with strong momentum, but the level of competition was incredibly high. This experience has given me even more motivation for 2026 — I want to be back on that podium.”

Eduardo de Cobos:

There wasn’t a single ‘magic’ moment — it was an intense week from start to finish. By competing in the same zones each day, I could measure and manage my advantage from day two onward, staying disciplined and protecting the lead until the very end.”

György Batki:

Winning the World Championship title in Classic Senior is a moment I’ll carry with me forever. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who supported me along the way — I couldn’t have done it alone. But for me, the real competition is always with myself. In 2026, I want to beat my own limits at every match, every stage, and every shot. That would be the truest victory.”

Additional Highlights — Cecilia Lindberg

- Skepplanda Challenge (Sweden) – 1st PDO Lady

- Viking Extreme Open (Denmark) – 1st PDO Lady

- Swedish Nationals “Bulletstorm” – 1st PDO Lady

Cecilia Lindberg:

One of my biggest strengths — and something I really had to rely on during Swedish Nationals — is my determination. I made several misses on easy targets because I left them too early, so I had to fight even harder on the remaining stages. This match tested my ability to adapt to whatever came my way. It’s not over until the very last shot has been fired.

Local Highlights — György Batki

György Batki:

The No Miss Challenge in Hungary was the perfect way to open the season — 12 dynamic handgun stages followed by 12 rifle stages. I took 1st place in Classic and 3rd in Senior PCC Optics. My GECO 9x19 10g FMJ FN ran flawlessly again. Not a single doubt, not a single malfunction. Just performance.

“Just one week later, at the Slovak Extreme Challenge, I claimed 1st place in Classic, and the following day at the Ballistic Cup, another 1st place in Standard. Over 400 rounds and zero failures — GECO 9x19 once again proved its reliability when it matters most.

“At the MEKK Mester Kupa, I competed in both handgun and PCC. Double duty, double success: 1st place Standard, 4th PCC Optics (2nd Senior). 16 stages and 300 flawless rounds.”

“And finally, at the 28th Mosquito Match in Slovakia, one of the most iconic events in the region, I secured 3rd place in Classic Division after 20 demanding stages. This match requires consistency and control — exactly what GECO ammunition delivers.

“Early-season matches set the tone. When you train hard, trust your gear, and push through the fatigue, the results come naturally. GECO ammunition gives me that confidence to perform from the first stage to the last. Precision is nothing without trust. And I trust GECO.

Season Reflections & Outlook 2026

Dylan Keppel:

This was my most successful season yet — 22 matches, 20 podiums, 18 wins! My goal for 2026 is clear: the European Championship. Consistency and family-like team spirit are everything.

Stefan Rumpler:

The European Shotgun Championship was the season’s highlight. For 2026, I’m aiming for over 85 % at the Europeans and Top 5 at the Worlds.”

Sascha Back:

My 2026 goals are ambitious: podium finishes in Revolver, Rifle, and PCC at nationals, and Top 10 Senior at Europeans.”

Patrick Baculard:

My focus is on qualifying for the French team and taking gold in Optics Division.

Patrick Kummer:

“I train about 80% Standard Minor throughout the year and then switch to a 50/50 split between Standard and Classic about two months before key matches. My personal highlights this season were becoming German Champion in Classic and of course the CZC Open — not only as a shooter but as organizer and sponsor. For 2026, my focus is on strong preparation for the European Championship in Hungary.

Emile Obriot:

The World Shoot gave me a lot of confidence. 2026 is about improving technically, becoming even more consistent, and staying competitive at the highest level.”

Cyrielle Vivo:

“In 2026, I’ll switch divisions and push to become faster, more explosive, and even more consistent. Hungary is my big goal.

Cecilia Lindberg:

My biggest highlight was seeing how much I’ve improved overall. I’ll keep training hard, and I’m excited for the European Handgun Championship in Hungary. I want to shoot faster without compromising accuracy and master top swingers in one presentation.”

György Batki:

“IPSC Classic Division rewards discipline and control. I know exactly what my setup can do and what I need to improve. That clarity helps me stay calm and focused, even in the most demanding matches. Winning a World Championship isn’t about one match — it’s the result of a whole season. Every local match, every round fired, every mistake corrected builds the foundation for that one decisive moment on the world stage.”

Thomas Edvardsson:

“Competing in extreme heat taught me a lot. I’ll focus my training and aim for a Top 10 finish at the Shotgun World Shoot.

Luis Ehrhardt:

Winning the PDO national title was a fantastic feeling. Next year, the focus is on building and aiming for top European results.”

Eduardo de Cobos:

IPSC is addictive — not just the sport, but the unique athlete community around it. Every match is a thrill, and staying in competition shape is simply my way of life. For 2026, I’ll keep sharpening the fundamentals — stage analysis, transitions, and movement — to stay competitive at the biggest events and defend what we’ve built.”
